How to Skate like Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid
Great video. Much appreciated!
99th Like! Next Gretzky Right Here!
love this, thanks for the video. i do a little 'non stick handling' just by instinct, for me it's not about fakes on the goalie so much as creating guiderails for the puck so i can keep my eyes up while knowing where the puck is. if the puck is drifting off to the side, maybe some of those 'ghost touches' would have actually helped keep the puck on the line i wanted/thought it was on
It’s okay to struggle. It’s okay if things aren’t always fun. You learn more about who you are in times when things aren’t fun. While fun is great and has its place, fun should be the result of the work, not the goal.
Step 1: be the fastest player in history. Step 2: be the best puckhandler in history too. Step 3: just do step 1 and 2.
So wait the reason why I was losing the puck when doing my strides and crossovers was because I had the puck to my side the whole time and should I only have my hands to the side when shooting ?
Haha we can take a look at your video and see exactly what is going on 👍
With compelling reason and motives, the work becomes fun
For real. Even if it's not the NHL if you have a clear goal in mind then the process of improving to get there can be really fun ! Some of it is obviously still gonna be a grind but working on specific skills over and over can be quite satisfying especially when you start noticing your improvements while you are working on it
@@CatMelon12For real best feeling is practicing something like a million times and then doing it in game it just feels so good.
Absolutely 👍
🙏 please
Can you help my son
👍 Shoot us an email support@train2point0.com
He just seems like he’s having so much fun.
My favorite player is the best Hall of Famer ever
Doesn't he use like a lie 4 or 5 for his stick? That would put the puck in that further out position? Right?
Lie 4 pretty sure. I've noticed it's helped especially with shorter stick. Took a bit to get used to shooting with it though
@@AdamOBrien-e4p is it rockered?
@@Jakuby21 Sorry I had to look up rockered blades since I didn't even know it was a thing. The one I got from prohockeysticks isn't and they're supposed to be exact replicas. What I noticed too is that Mcdavid has been using a very short stick a lot of the time. When he first entered the league his stick was pretty long but it looks shorter now.
@@Jakuby21 It sometimes looks long because of his height and how he holds his stick but if you look at his hands its pretty short for his height. Jack eichel also did the same thing because he talked about the speed of the nhl and needing a shorter stick.
@@Jakuby21 Do you have a rocketed blade and is the difference worth it?
@Train2.0Hockey Do you guys have an off ice drills that I can do to improve my game.
Hey Justin, yes sir, inside the off ice section of Train 2.0+.
Awesome job breaking this down as usual. Your step by step approach always makes the seemingly impossible, possible.
You are very welcome, glad you enjoyed it.
Your the GOAT 🐐
Thank you 👍
ME.
How McDavid starts is huge. My hockey coaches as a kid had us all start off from the goal line the same way during skating drills. All skating drills out of corners as well. I thank my early coaches for teaching me how to skate. It's something people have always complimented me on. My hands not until recently as of late. Takes 20+ years, I guess 😅. I'm a playmaker anyway. Let's go, Oilers!
Absolutely, thanks for sharing Jason 👍
One of Canadas best!
💯
Hardest working player in the nhl
No question.
Wow, some used to call him a first round bust but now he’s know as the 2024 hart trophy winner
Crazy right, I remember those times.
@@Train2point0 yeah
I have a quick question about stickhandling. I do a lot of practice sessions on stickhandling off-ice, but now it's not too difficult and I kind of plateaued, do you have any advice on how to make stickhandling drills harder aside from keeping your head up or increasing the reps?
Cadence + hands and feet connection.
Your eyebrow guard is a little high...
This isn’t Stutzle??
Stutzle is on Ottawa
Your explanations are awesome. I watch you every day now! Thanks for being so clear and concise!
You are welcome Julie 👍
Thank you, Coach. 😊👍
You are very welcome.
Did this guy ever play hockey
Which guy? Jason Yee? Clearly you’re new here.
What part of the video are u not getting? Seemed straightforward to me
This guy is not an oiler fan
Happened upon a rink in the outskirts of Toronto in 2011. Went in and watched kids do their drills. There was ONE kid who stood out above all the rest....
Although kinda off topic for this video, I'm kind of struggling to generate a lot of friction/ice pressure when shooting and I can't get the whip of the stick/the flex. Do you have any tips?
Don't focus on ice pressure, depending on curve load the puck off the toe, use your inner spring. Could be a number of of things but would need to see video of you shooting to see exactly what is going on.
Really good vid, couldn’t tell the difference till now
👍👍
When doing soft drag and anchor do you always push your opposite foot out or is that just for deceleration
Deceleration🔥 Collapsing and getting Y-Angle is key here.
I have a question about the slingshot when taking it I know you go opposing hip to your other hip but after releasing do you pull your stick up in the air or do you just leave it pointing when in the back pocket
Hey Dylan, depends on the release !
$
👍
People often forget. He got most of his power when he broke his wrist. He was younger, but if anyone pays attention his shot went to the next level. This helped out his shot has he practice day in & out with one hand. His shot was one one of the hardest for his age group even when he was little. I think he was 16 when he joined the Regina Pats. I lived about an hr from this city.
Absolutely, thanks for the feedback.
Great breakdown
Thanks 👍
So wait it’s bent elbow wrist or hand is kind of bent thumb is locked around the corner?
sasha barkov 👏👏
Worldclass.
exactly
your skates vapor 2x or 2x pro ?
Great video! Why does it sound a bit sped up?
Thank you and just to increase the information in a shorter amount of time.
Great stuff here man
Thank you 👍
👍
fr fr wish i had you when i was 14
Haha 💪
Thank you for the amazing breakdown!
No problem, glad you enjoyed it.
hey love the videos. i was wondering how i can inprove my hockey mechanics off ice such as skating.
Inside the membership area we have a full guide for off season training and mechanics work. You can find the basic guide available here on RUclips.
cant find the "how to play defense pattern" video. I know i've seen it before. starts out with facing the boards crossover at the offensive blueline. love your work!
Where were you when I was 14
Haha appreciate it!
May I ask what benefits are there when using the NHL grip code
Does a lot but increased range and smoother, faster stickhandling with more wrist roll. Check out how to stickhandle like Patrick Kane inside Precise Puck Control course for more info.
I have a question does the rotation and the pull behind work with other shots?
Nice 👍 😊
This guy is underrated🔥
Thanks Jonas.
